INVITATION TO THE LAUNCH OF TRUE CALLING: LIFE AND TIMES OF REVD JA OKESIJI, JP

Hello Friends,

I want to invite you specially to the book launch of the biography titled, TRUE CALLING: Life and Times of Revd J.A. Okesiji, JP. Revd Okesiji is my maternal grandfather and I am his first grandson. I grew up on his laps, had a lot of interactions with him, all of these gave birth to this book and my writing skill is all presented to you in the text.

The book launch and presentation is coming up on the 29th of October, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso at 12noon. The event promises to be worth the time invested by being my special guest.

A brief on the content:

The book opens with the foreword written by the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Otunba (Dr) Christopher Adebayo-Alao-Akala, the prologue follows, basically statements by the father of Revd J.A. Okesiji, JP, Pastor Moses Afolabi Okesiji. Chapter 1 is the birth of J.A. Okesiji, where he hails from, a little history of Okeho town. Chapter 2 is on his educational soujourn from his primary school till he went to the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary. Chapter 3 is spreading the word, this is an account of various churches where he had the opportunity to lead since he was called to ministry. Chapter 4 discusses his 31 year stay in First Baptist Church, Okelerin, Ogbomoso, one of the foremost Baptist Churches in Nigeria that has produced great institutions like the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, the Baptist Medical Centre, The School of Nursing, Ogbomoso and others. No one has ever had a great life without challenges, Chapter 5 narrates some of his numerous challenges that can strengthen the faith of young people to get to the peak of life. Chapter 6 deals with the relationship of the Reverend gentleman with his country home, Chapter 7 is on life after retirement since 1998 while the Chapter 8 is about his home front, this chapter has contributions from grandchildren, children, in-laws and some relatives.

The other part of the book is on those who know him: 4 kings from Oyo State namely The Soun of Ogbomoso, the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, the Onjo of Okeho and the Aale of Okelerin, they gave an insight into his personality. Other contributors include: Pa. T.A.A Ladele, his headmaster in the primary school and a renown Yoruba novelist of the JE N LO GBA TEMI fame, the Otun of Oyo kingdom, Chief (Dr) M.O. Ogunmola, the former Inspector-General of Police, Chief Sunday Adewusi amongst others.

With all these and more, you will agree with me that we are set to mark history together with your presence and the unveiling of a text written for a maternal grandfather. Another first in its own regard.

There would be an autograph session on this day. I will be glad having you as a guest on that day at that time with the book going home with you.

Sincere regards,
